Imphal, September 28 2011:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) has charged the Governor of Manipur for not trying to solve the economic blockade issue and has demanded that he leave the state.
A public meeting cum sit in protest was organized at Wabgai Lamkhai bazaar today by the MPP Youth Front as a part of the agitation initiated by MPP for the imposition of PR in the state, on the ground that the present SPF government is unable to solve the problem arising out of the economic blockade in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, President of MPP, Youth front, M Maniton said that MPP has time and again pressed the state government and even the Governor to bring about a solution to the prevailing situation in the state.
But none of them paid any heed to the appeal of MPP and the common people.
At such a juncture the government and the Governor staying mum is a matter of serious concern.
Is there any hidden agenda behind their silence.
The situation in the state, if not checked at the right time, will further lead to serious and unwanted problems in the future.
If the state government cannot solve the problem, atleast the central government could intervene, he stated.
Leader of the MPP Legislature Wing, O Joy said that the Central goverment, if not the state government, could use Para Military forces to solve all problems.
Whatever be the case, the economic blockade should be brought to an end altogether.
He further praised the spirit of the fast unto death agitating women, but said that protesting by means of economic blockade should be stopped at all cost.
O Joy further charged the NSCN (IM) and the Nagaland government of trying to break up Manipur by establishing the Naga People's Front in Manipur.
He warned the people of the state to be aware of the intensions of the NSCN (IM) and the Nagaland government.
President of MPP, Nimaichand Luwang said that in June 2008 when there was an economic blockade in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union government used force to bring the blockade to an end and finally succeeded in June 6.The Governor of Manipur had assured the people of the state that the efforts were on to end the economic blockade in 2-3 days time.
But even after the passage of one week there is no sign of the economic blockade coming to an end.
Various other leaders of MPP spoke on the occasion and urged the state government to come with solid decisions.
