States sees 1198 new cases, 14 fatalities

Imphal, July 24 2021: The onslaught of Covid-19 pandemic continues to ravage in the state as Saturday reported 14 death cases and 1198 new positive cases out of 7068 samples tested registering a positivity rate of 16.95 per cent.

Though the positivity rate is slightly lower from Friday's 18.78 per cent, the figure is still far above the comforting level as a positivity rate below 5 per cent is needed to bring down the wave.

The average positivity rate for the current month also rose to 15.67 per cent from 15.60 per cent on Friday.

The state has so far recorded 62,060 positive cases and 1091 death cases during the second wave of the pandemic.

A total of 21,670 new cases and 315 fatalities were reported during the current month and out of them, 7601 new cases and 100 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official report, one of the new positive cases is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan and the remaining 1197 cases (603 male & 594 female) are from general population.

Their samples were tested at RIMS (12), JNIMS (103), District Hospitals (843) and other testing centres (240) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (292), Imphal West (301), Thoubal (193), Bishnupur (88), Kakching (52), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (134), Chandel (39), Senapati (26), Tamenglong (18), Tengnoupal (6), Kangpokpi (25), Kamjong (3), Pherzawl (2), Jiribam (6) and Noney (9).The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 14 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no information on age and gender of the victims are provided.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (8), Imphal East (1), Bishnupur (3) and Churachandpur (2).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1465.Four of them had first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and the remaining 10 were unvaccinated while six did not have any co-morbidities.

In the last 24 hours, 872 patients were discharged from home isolation (456), RIMS (34), JNIMS (6), CCCs (184) and CHICs (192).The active caseload has reached 10,251 out of which 4454 (43.45 per cent) are in home isolation, 2883 (28.12 per cent) in CHICs, 1852 (18.07 per cent) in CCCs and 1062 (10.36 per cent) are admitted in different hospitals.

Among the patients admitted in different hospitals, 139 are admitted in ICU/ HDU wards while 416 patients are on oxygen support and 70 on ventilator support.

On the other hand, 118 patients in different CCCs are also on oxygen support.

As of Friday night, 53 beds are available in government hospitals, 71 in private hospitals, 4 in LF School Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 153 in district hospitals & CCCs, and 1340 in different CCCs.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 91,460 (general population - 87,498 and CAPF personnel - 3,962).Number of recovered cases is 79,744 (general population - 75,847 and CAPF personnel - 3,897) and number of active cases is 10,251 (general population - 10,191 and CAPF personnel - 60).The recovery rate is 87.19 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1677 D-type and 368 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

On Friday, 29,359 vaccine doses were administered and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 10,10,902 out of which 1,53,167 have received the second doses.

Meanwhile, one more Covid fatality has been added in the tally of Kakching district taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 98 as per information received from DSO Kakching.

On the other hand, 53 new positive cases were detected out of 283 samples tested from Friday 2 pm to Saturday 2 pm in the district registering a positivity rate of 18.73 per cent.

One case was detected at Ema Hospital, three at Jivan Hospital and 49 at different government RAT sites.

Two cases are from Chandel district and the rest from Kakching district.

Cumulative number of infected people in the district has reached 5164 on Saturday out of which 4395 people have been discharged and 98 have died.

There are 671 active cases in the district.

In Tengnoupal district, 19,354 individuals have been vaccinated and 3739 of them have got second doses.

On Saturday, 101 individuals including a pregnant woman were vaccinated during a vaccination camp held at Kwatha village.

One positive case was also detected out of nine samples tested at the sub-district hospital Moreh on Saturday.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (31,073), Imphal East (20,446), Thoubal (7751), Churachandpur (7715), Kangpokpi (2170), Tamenglong (2615), Bishnupur (6388), Senapati (1676), Ukhrul (1649), Kakching (5080), Chandel (1656), Noney (725), Tengnoupal (913), Jiribam (896), Kamjong (535), and Pherzawl (172).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (509), Imphal East (352), Thoubal (131), Churachandpur (126), Kangpokpi (46), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (136), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (86), Chandel (25), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 29,475 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,478 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,35,265 tests per million population against the national average of 3,26,010 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.60 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 7068 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 16.95 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.79 per cent.
