Imphal, March 23 2015:
Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Md Luquman has called off its indefinite state-wide general strike on Monday.
The decision to call off the strike was taken by leaders of various Muslim organisations during a public meeting held at Moijing Idgah ground, Thoubal district on Sunday.
A press release from the JAC however made it clear that the strike was imposed in protest against the alleged "step-motherly treatment" meted out to the Muslim community in general.
On Monday, the JAC claimed the body of Md Luquman from a hospital and the last rites of the deceased were performed.
Md Luquman (27) of Thoubal Moijing Mayai Leikai was found dead at Ahallup under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East on March 17 after he had gone missing a day before the incident.
