NEDFi organizes awareness camp for organic farmers and entrepreneurs

North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) in association with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) conducted an awareness camp among the Farmer Producers Companies/Organizations, Farmers Interest Group (FIG) and entrepreneurs on "Mission organic value chain development for North Eastern region (MOVCDNER)" at the office of the Directorate of Agriculture today.
K Debadutta Sharma, Project Director, Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), S Radhapyari Devi, Nodal Officer, K Nimaichand Singh, APO, MOVCDNER, Department of Agriculture attended the camp as dignitaries.
The programme was primarily aimed at assisting organic farmers and entrepreneurs to get subsidy for setting up various post-harvest management infrastructures under the mission.
Addressing the participants, K Debadutta Sharma pointed out that Manipur has sufficient marketable surplus of organic produces like black aromatic rice, turmeric, ginger and pineapple etc.
and MOVCDNER is the key initiative of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India to support the farmers in taking up value chain processing activities (Post Harvest infrastructure creation).
The programme was followed by a detailed presentation made by Popy Sonowal, Manager, and NEDFi on various benefits available, under the scheme and the process of availing them.
A detailed interaction was held among the participants with the officials of Business Facilitation centre, Pakumoni Das, AGM, Priyobratta Gurumayum, Branch Manager, Imphal Branch and Pritiviraj Neog, in which the interested beneficiaries have been made aware about other handholding supports, under the scheme, such as preparation of detailed project report etc.
During the session, the farmers and entrepreneurs were counselled by officials of Business Facilitation Centre of NEDFi on guidance to be provided for availing benefits of capital investment subsidy under the scheme.
