MUTA meets

Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) held an emergency general body meeting today at its office with Professor RK Gambhir Singh in the chair to discuss the ongoing impasse at the university.
A press release issued by the vice president of MUTA stated that various resolutions were adopted in the meeting, including reiterating the resolutions adopted in MUTA's meeting held on June 4 and appreciating the initiatives taken by the Governor towards bringing an amicable solution to the current issue of the university in her capacity as the Chief Rector of Manipur University.
It also resolved to apprise the Visitor, Chancellor, Chief Rector and the Ministry of Human Resources Development of the developments in the university at the earliest and to demand the constitution of an independent enquiry committee at the earliest to look into the charges of administrative and financial irregularities among others levelled against the VC.
It further resolved to form an action committee and to co-opt some members of MUTA as member of the action committee in addition to the executive members.
