Raising concern over the prevailing situation in the state, United Committee, Manipur (UCM) has resolved to join hands with Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and participate in the people's movement for implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in the state.
At a press meet held at the UCM office located at Lamphelpat here today, president of the committee, Y.Nabachandra stated that the UCM would extend full support to the demand for the implementation of ILP in Manipur morally and physically.
Further, the UCM president said that the committee takes the action of the police personnel arresting the members of JCILPS seriously when a talk was just about to be held with the state government.
The UCM president said that the state government empowering security forces to control the people would not keep the movement under control nor will the closure of schools and colleges subside the students' or people's movement.
He also told that the people's movement would continue and intensify.
"The government should not try to brush off the issue from time to time by using unfavorable steps but instead it should try to bring an immediate solution keeping into consideration the long years of struggle by the people, the UCM president stated while adding that suppressing the people's movement will only make the situation worse.
