Driving a taxi in Delhi to support family back home

In an act which could prove a source of inspiration for fellow Manipuris and those pursuing studies outside the state, a student from rural Manipur studying in New Delhi has been driving a taxi in order to support his family back home and fund his study.
The daring Manipuri student is none other than Salam Sushilkumar alias Boynao son of late Salam Manibabu of Wangoo Sandangkhong in Bishnupur district.
24 years old Sushilkumar has been studying in New Delhi since the past four years.
He runs his taxi service when he can spare time from his study.
In an exclusive interview, Sushilkumar told Hueiyen Lanpao that he studied at Wangoo High School since his childhood.
The responsibility of supporting his family fell on him after his father died when he was in his high school.
After he passed his matriculation, he got the opportunity to work for a retired Army officer in New Delhi.
In New Delhi, he got himself admitted in the Red Rose Public School as well while he worked for the retired army officer.
He is now running a taxi service in New Delhi after retiring from the contract work of the retired army officer.
And plans to pursue correspondence course in the Delhi University.
Even though he is running the taxi service to support his education and family, he does not wish to continue the same after his study, he said.
Determined to become a successful person, Sushilkumar said that one can attain success with a firm will.
No one can achieve success if one is lazy and is ashamed of taking up certain kind of work.
He has hired a Maruti Esteem from a person from Delhi for running his taxi service at a rental amount of Rs 10,000 per month.
He can earn Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 a day with his service.
After spending all his personal needs of rent, foods and study he could send Rs 5000 per month to his family back in Manipur.
He said that one should not remain idle in search of a white collared job.
Sushilkumar is the eldest of five siblings.
