Imphal, August 11, 2013:
Denouncing as 'irresponsible' the statement made by Home Minister Gaikhangam in connection with the bomb blast near the gate of Chief Minister's bungalow yesterday wherein he lamented over the negligence of security personnel, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC) today demanded the resignation of the Home Minister and the DGP on moral ground.
After the blast, Home Minister Gaikhangam had told media persons that all security arrangements made by top officials would be futile if the personnel on duty at the spots are negligent.
Security personnel need to be sincere and honest while discharging their responsibilities.
Reacting to this statement, General Secretary of MPTCC Th Imocha Singh asserted that the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led Congress Government has failed to protect not only the lives and exchequer of the people, but also the fortified bungalow of the Chief Minister, which is located just adjacent to the bungalow of the Home Minister.
The present law and order situation is only the result of rampant corruption in the recruitment of state security personnel.
Pointing out that without development, peace could not prevail in the state, Imocha demanded to know how industries can function in the State when power is supplied only for 4-5 hours in a day.Can development take place when the national highways are blocked and roads including official residences of Ministers, MLAs, etc, and Secretariat complexes are under water?, he further questioned.
Besides state agriculture department has become a unit with no planning; instead of providing fertilisers to the farmers, it is being made available for MLA and Ministers, Imocha added.
He also informed that the National leaders of Trinamool Congress would call on the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to submit a detail report on the present border fencing dispute along Indo-Myanmar international boundary.
