It is raining bombs ! Protests galore

In continued violence, unidentified armed persons triggered a bomb blast at the residence of the Upa-Adhyaksha of Imphal West Zilla Parishad while a hand grenade was left at the residence of the Deputy Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.
According to police reports, a hand grenade lobbed by unidentified armed persons exploded at the Mayanglangjing Akham Mayai Leikai residence of Tongbram Ongbi Manitombi Devi (51) at around 11 pm yesterday.
After being elected as a Member of Mayanglangjing Zilla Parishad, Manitombi is currently holding the post of Upa-Adhyaksha of Imphal West Zilla Parishad.
The bomb landed and exploded near the verandah of the house.
Though no one was hurt, the doors, windows and walls of the house suffered damages in the explosion.
Police have recovered the lever of a hand grenade from near the gate of the house.
The Upa-Adhyaksha has clarified that she has not received any threat over monetary demand from any UG group.
In protest against the attack, people of the locality staged a Wakat Meepham at Mayanglangjing today.
Adhyaksha and other Members of Imphal West Zilla Parishad also participated in the protest demonstration.

On the other hand, unidentified armed persons left a hand grenade at the Lamboikhongnangkhong residence of Sorokhaibam Saroja Devi (45), who is the Deputy Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department, at around 7 am today.
Protesting against the incident, people of the locality staged a Wakat Meepham at Lamboikhongnangkhong today.
Meanwhile, a similar protest demonstration was also staged at the campus of RDO Lamshang today decrying the yesterday's incident of leaving a hand grenade near the gate of RDO office.
People of the surrounding villages participated in the protest demonstration.
In addition to claiming the responsibility for the bomb threat, KCP-Maoists had announced shut down of RDO and its College of Nursing.
A joint meeting of the guardians of the students of the Nursing College was also held at the conference hall of RDO today.
MLA W Brajabidhu attended the meeting.
Those who spoke in the meeting called upon all concerned to ensure such incidents of threat on educational institution are not repeated and resolution of any issue amicably through talks.
