Election office puts rule of law in place, on charge of obstructing duty

MSCP candidate in Sagolband AC RK Imo alias Gandhi has been pulled up by Singjamei Police today on the charge of obstructing police in discharging their duties.
A police source informed that RK Imo alias Gandhi obstructed police from discharging their duties at a place within the jurisdiction of Singjamei Police Station on January 18. Acting on this, the State Election Commission issued a directive to apprehend the aspiring candidate.
Subsequently, RK Imo was pulled up today.
Singjamei Police have registered an FIR case against RK Imo alias Gandhi under IPC Sections 353/503/506/511/34. Talking to The Sangai Express, Chief Electoral Officer PC Lawmkunga informed that RK Imo and some of his supporters were coming together when some police personnel halted their vehicles and attempted to check a Bolero jeep in the night of January 18 at Kwakeithel crossing within the jurisdiction of Singjamei Police Station.
As the police personnel proceeded to check the Bolero, RK Imo objected.
Police then sent a report to the CEO informing him about the undue objection raised by the candidate to policemen on duty.
After perusing the report, the CEO served a show cause notice on MSCP seeking an explanation why RK Imo was obstructing police from discharging their duty.
The show cause notice also asked why the security escorts provided to RK Imo should not be called back.
The CEO also instructed the concerned SP to take up a case against obstructing police duty.
In follow-up action taken up by the SP Imphal West, MSCP candidate RK Imo alias Gandhi was pulled up today.
