SFs strike it rich with arrest of 11 militants, 2 OGWs

Imphal, March 13 2012:
At least eleven UG cadres and two overground workers have been arrested from different parts of the State during the past four days while four Manipur Rifles personnel were arrested by AR men from Leingangpkpi under Jiribam Police Station.
Four of the MR personnel were arrested by troops of 22 AR on March 8 while the personnel were extorting and thrashing truck drivers along NH-37, our Jiri correspondent reports.
The four MR riflemen have been identified as H Subhaschandra, Punshipou Thaimei, Ch Chandramani and Dimduanlung Rongmei.
They belonged to the 5 MR .
They were handed over to Jiri Police Station.
Meanwhile, troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) apprehended one KCP (MC) cadre today while launching operation at Leitanpokpi, the AR claimed in a statement.
The apprehended cadre was identified as No 1006 Sanjung alias Chinglem Khomba (26) s/o Athokpham Chaoba Singh of Leitanpokpi,Imphal East and was handed over to Lamlai Police station.
In another instance, a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 28 and 30 AR arrested one Kom Rem Peoples Army (KRPA) on March 9 from Kongba, an Imphal East SP's statement claimed.
The KRPA cadre has been identified as SD Shailenlar alias Alar (45) son of Soneng Chiru of Uran Chiru village.
One hand grenade, one carbine loaded with 3 live rounds were recovered from his possession, it stated.
He was also said to have disclosed that he joined the outfit through one Boiler of Senpangja village.
He was also said to have involved in extortion of money from public, government officials, businessmen, etc apart from transporting arms from place to place.
In unrelated incident, a combined team of Imphal West police commandos and troops of 18 Sikh Regiment arrested one active member of UNLF/MPA from Ningombam Purumkhong road on March 9, according to Imphal West SP's statement.
The UNLF cadre was identified as Khwairakpam Romesh alias Nanao alias Khoiyum Singh (23) son of Kh Lalit of Awang Sekmai Mayai Leikai.
He was said to have joined the outfit in 2008 and got basic military training in Burma under MPA No 2260.He is also said to have revealed that he is working under the command of one Wanglen in 141 units of the UNLF.
The statement added that the arrested cadre was involved in ambush in 2009 in Ukhrul District and handing over of 230 AKs to NSCN (K) in December 2009 at Muvai Lok, Ukhrul district.
One 9mm pistol, one magazine, and two live rounds were seized from him, it stated.
Another UNLF cadre was arrested by troops of 22 AR during a raid at Dibong in Jiribam, our Jiri correspondent adds.
The arrested UNLF cadre has been identified as P Gyaneshwar (25) of Dibong Makha Leikai.
In yet another incident, troops of 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in Khoidum Pat of Thoubal district and recovered cache of warlike stores from a gunny bag submerged in water under marshy area, IGAR (S) statement said.
The warlike stores included one 12-Bore Gun, one 12-Match lock bore gun, one .32 Revolver, one Walkie talkie, one PREPAK flag, one utility pauch, twelve 7.62 mm live rounds and 123 fired cartridge cases of AK-47, it added.
Troops of 5/9 and 6/8 Gorkha Rifles under the aegis of the Red Shield Division apprehended a KCP (MC) cadre namely SS Pvt Ksh Upa alias Manigun s/o Ksh Jayanta of Bishnupur Ward No 9 from Bishnupur area on March 8, according to a PIB (DW) release adding that he joined the outfit in 1995 and was involved in tax collection in Bishnupur area on behalf of his group.
He used to supply food and clothing to KYKL and KCP (M) cadres also, the release claimed.
The individual was handed over to Bishnupur police station.
Meanwhile, in various operations based troops of the Red Shield Division nabbed six UGs and two OGWs from different places on March 10 .
The 10 DOGRA nabbed two cadres of KNF (P) and one OGW from T/Waichong area who have been identified as SS Pvt Jangminlal Kipgen, s/o Seitiminlal of Songjang (Senapati), SS Pvt Thangneo s/o Alal of Songpijang (Senapati) and Dehlam Doungel, an OGW of KNF (P) s/o Jangkhao of T/Waichong (Tamenglong) .
A large number of incriminating documents were recovered from the possession of the arrested persons, who were handed over to Imphal West Police Station.
In another operation 13 Assam Rifles of the Division nabbed three cadres of NSCN (IM) moving in a Tata Sumo from Awangkhul to
Nonei on NH-37 .
They were identified as KH Fhilimon, Khiamping Khumba and Neilor Cheeru, all from Nungtek village in Tamenglong district.
It is said that Rs 80,000 and incriminating documents were recovered from their possession.
The apprehended cadres were handed over to Imphal West Police Station.
In another operation carried out by 22 Assam Rifles of the Division, they nabbed DHD (N) cadre in general area Alubhaja identified as SS Sgt Foroj Kumar Berman s/o Prodesh Ranjan Barman of Alubhaja Jirighat district Cachar.
One lathode launcher was recovered from his possession.
He was handed over to Jirighat Police Station.
In yet another operation 43 AR of the Division nabbed one OGW of KCP (MC) from Kangpokpi Ward No 11 area who has been identified as Salam Gyanchandra alias Salam s/o Latsu Chandra of Chingamakha in Imphal West district.
The apprehendee was handed over to Imphal West Police Station, added the PIB (DW) release.
Based on specific information 10 DOGRA under the aegis of the Red Shield Division apprehended a cadre of Naga National Council (NNC) on March 10 from Khonshaghul area.
He has been identified as SS Col Padingam, s/o (Late) Kawak Lal of Khongshaghul Lungwiram, in Senapati district.
He has been handed over to Imphal West Police Station.
The individual was earlier apprehended on November 24, 2010 from the same region, it added.
