Imphal, January 10 2016:
Soon after
tomorrow's local body election
is over, people will see how
many Congress men leave the
party to either join BJP or form
a new party, said BJP Manipur
Pradesh president Th Chaoba.
Speaking to media persons
at their Nityaipat Chuthek
office this afternoon, Chaoba
reiterated that many Congress
leaders approached BJP but
they have not been admitted
till date.
Even if they are not allowed
to join BJP, those
Congress men would leave
their parent party to form a
new political party.
Chaoba went on to claim
that there would be very few
people who would be willing
to contest the 2017 State Legislative
Assembly election on
Congress tickets.
Reacting to Chief Minister
O Ibobi's claim that many
people were seeking re-admission
in Congress after
hoping different parties,
Chaoba remarked that Ibobi
was talking about history.
For their involvement in
many corruption scams,
AICC president Sonia Gandhi
and vice-president Rahul
Gandhi were summoned by
Court and released on bail.
There is no single Congress
leader who can ask the
mother-son duo to step down
from their respective posts.
As such, there are a number
of Congress leaders who have
been waiting for appropriate
time to quit the party.
Rejecting Ibobi's claim of
Congress party being a
staunch champion of secularism,
Chaoba maintained that
the 'secularism' touted by
Congress party was pseudo
secularism.
It was during Prime Minister
Rajiv Gandhi's period
that idol of a Hindu god was
taken secretly inside the Babri
Masjid during night and the
Masjid was demolished during
Prime Minister Narasimha
Rao's period.
While outwardly advocating
oneness between Hindus
and Muslims, Congress party
has been using Muslim people
as their vote bank for a
prolonged period by following
pseudo secularism.
But
their vote bank has started
diffusing.
That was why
Congress suffered humiliating
defeats in many big States
of the country, Chaoba asserted.
The Congress party of today
is not the Congress party
which was led by Mahatma
Gandhi before India achieved
independence.
During their rule of over
60 years, Congress could
bring up India among the
ranks of developing countries.
During the short stint of
BJP's rule under Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, the
country has been propelled to
the level of a developed country,
Chaoba claimed.
Expressing surprise over
Chief Minister Ibobi's claim
that BJP was defeated in local
body elections of many big
States, Chaoba said that BJP
secured 15 seats out of the 25 total seats of Chandigarh Municipal Council while
Congress could win only eight seats.
He went to claim that BJP will defeat Congress in the
ensuing local body election without any difficulty.
