Talk over NSU site inconclusive, many vehicles damaged at Kpi

The total bandh along NH-2 and NH-37 will go on as negotiation with the Chief Minister over the disputed NSU site turned out inconclusive Leaders of civil society organizations under the aegis of Kuki Students' Organization general headquarters met the Chief Minister today, at the official residence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh today from 5.45 pm to 7.20 pm.
The more than one hour long negotiation was chaired by the Chief Minister and attended by YAS Minister Letpao Haokip, CM advisor Ngamthang Haokip, Imphal West DC and other department officials concerned from the Government side and leaders of Kuki Inpi Manipur, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district, KSO Sadar Hills and Kuki Women Union under the aegis of KSO-GHQs.

According to KSO, another joint meeting with the Chief Minister in the presence of both Kangpokpi DC and Imphal West DC will be held tomorrow to work out a solution.
As the meeting could not arrive at any agreement, the bandh will continue, it added.
Mention may be made that the demands of the public are to declare the current demarcation as null and void, constitute a legitimate demarcation committee, publicize the findings of the state Government's District Boundary Commission first before conducting the demarcation.
Meanwhile, it was reported that late last night between 10 pm and 12 midnight, enraged protesters reportedly damaged several vehicles at Kangpokpi district headquarters.
It was also reported even IG Lunseh Kipgen also came till Kangpokpi DHQs while some police commandos were also deployed to transport the stranded vehicles.
The police force had a hard time taking the stranded vehicles to safety while some vehicles were damaged by the protesters.
Protesters were seen blocking the highway and restricting movement of vehicles mainly at Gamgiphai, Leikop, Bongmol, Keithelmanbi, Kangpokpi DHQs, Hengbung and Taphou Kuki on the second day of the total bandh.
However, there is no report of any untoward incident till the time of filing this report.
Around 60/70 loaded trucks were reportedly stranded at the old taxation check post till this afternoon.
All business establishments in Kangpokpi DHQs and along the National Highway 2 remained closed.
Bandh volunteers at Kangpokpi DHQs were also seen restricting vehicular movement and checking the valid reason of movement.
Only exempted vehicles from the purview of the bandh were allowed to proceed.
It was also reported that a huge number of protesters were engaged in enforcing the total bandh along NH-37 under the aegis of KSO Moltam Lhang.
