Imphal, August 16 2019:
A team of JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences) Neurosurgeons successfully conducted a surgery and removed two brain tumours from a patient, said Th Bhimo Singh, Director JNIMS.
Addressing a press meet held at JNIMS, Th Bhimo said that the team of neurosurgeons led by Dr S Parkinson Singh conducted the operation on a 62-year-old woman from Thoubal district on August 5 after 'multiple' brain tumours were detected.
He further conveyed that the patient had undergone surgeries for breast cancer twice in just a period of about 10 years.

When the patient first consulted Dr Parkinson, she was feeling weaker day by day and consequently the left side of her body was paralysed due to the tumours.
Dr Parkinson then detected the presence of three tumours in her brain, said Bhimo.
With the 'sincere effort' of the JNIMS Neurosurgeons led by Dr Parkinson and the confidence the patient's family had on the doctors, the operation went as planned and the team was able to remove two of the three tumours, he said.
When asked about the remaining tumour, lead Neurosurgeon Dr Parkinson said that the last tumour which was left inside the brain can be treated even with radiotherapy.
The patient will be referred to RIMS for the same purpose as JNIMS does not have radiotherapy facility, he said.
Dr Parkinson continued that the patient is a beneficiary of Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang (CMHT) Scheme and as such the operation charge and cost of the medicines will be borne by the State Government.
Commenting on incidents that are affecting healthcare service, Director Th Bhimo appealed public to have confidence in the doctors working at JNIMS and said that there will be better results if there is cordial relationship between the medical professionals and patients/families.
JNIMS Medical Superintendent Professor N Jitendra, who was present at the press meet, said that there are plans of opening various new courses and adding more departments at JNIMS in the future with the assurance of the State Government to provide all possible assistance for the betterment of public.
