'Officials of PWD might be involved in the bomb blast'

Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) might have been involved in the fateful incident of bomb blast which occurred in the high security PWD office in Khuyathong which left three staff of the department injured, yesterday, Chief Minister O Ibobi has stated.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the surrender ceremony held at HQ IGAR (South) at Mantripukhri today, CM O Ibobi said that investigation in the bomb blast incident is under way.
There are apprehensions in the minds of every individual that there could be involvement of some PWD officials since the area is highly secured.
Anyone found involved in the incident will not be spared and strict action will be taken against them, warned the Chief Minister.
In the aftermath of the incident, all vehicles, except those of the Chief Engineer and SE have been prohibited from parking inside the PWD complex.
Apart from this, all individuals including the staffs of the department are thoroughly checked before entering the complex.
The people of the state have been experiencing such incidents for quite some years.
The people and the perpetrators themselves have realized that this kind of incidents gives no benefit to anyone.
The Chief Minister was hopeful that such incidents will cease to occur in the near future, the Chief Minister said.
It may be mentioned that tight security arrangement has been taken up at the PWD entrance for some years now.
All persons visiting the department are checked at the gate and there is prohibition on carrying even mobile phones inside.
A security arrangement which is put in place only at the official Bungalow of the Governor and the Chief Minister of Manipur.
