Imphal, October 15 2012:
"The Zeliangrong Citizens Forum (ZCF) has strongly reacted to the comment of the Zeliangrong Union (ZU) on the former's expedition.
"The ZCF's initiative to rekindle the past history of Zeliangrong people through organizing ancestral land expedition is strongly objected by the so called "Zeliangrong Union" (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) by issuing repeated press statements expressing their strongly objection is ill motivated with malicious intention which is very unfortunate.
Such presence of some myopic vision with self claimed leaders within the Zeliangrong community has obstructed the unity of Zeliangrong in the past but this will be diminished very soon with the upcoming generation who are broad minded with reasoning ability leading the community from now onwards.
The so called Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) which is non existent body other than emerging occasionally on print media with some their self confusion press statement on various occasions has obstructed the unity of Zeliangrong people," the ZCF retorted today.
The Zeliangrong Citizens Forum(ZCF) consisting of people of different walks of life including intellectuals, youths, students, prominent leaders, officers, women leaders of different apex organizations of Zeliangrong community, it added.
The ZCF invites all interested persons of the Zeliangrong people to participate the expedition therefore, the claimed that Mr.Amu Kamei, who claimed to be the President of the so called ZU to participate or not participate solely depends on him but taking the matter to the print media making "issue out of non issue" has exposed absolute opposition for unity.
There are few individuals who are confined in a particularly area but claimed to be the office bearers of ZU (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) without the knowledge of the Zeliangrong people of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
The people come across the so called ZU occasionally on newspapers paper but whenever any problems crop up they hide themselves like pangolin in its hole, the ZCF criticised.
"There is an old folk oral history that Zeliangrong people had dispersed from Makuilongdi which is comprising of chunk of mountains before moving out to different directions and locations therefore, every Zeliangrong has every right to come back to Makuilongdi or erect monolith or any other suitable memorable monuments as a mark of remembrance.
The ZU opposition to the propose erection of monolith by the ZCF at the ending point of their expedition which is at Makuilongdi may invite unnecessary problem than good.
The so called ZU claiming as if Makuilongdi is their inherited property without reference to history is ridiculous.
