Training on disaster management held

Ukhrul, August 05 2017:
Relief and Disaster Management, Manipur today conducted a one day training programme for district level officers (DLOs), NGOs and civil society leaders of Ukhrul district in order to ready them for immediate response and measure in the face of any natural calamities .
During the training, officer of Forest Department Dr Lokho Puni Mao dwelt on the local context on the causes of landslide and its effect through power presentation .
Other resource persons Mohd Ayub Khan and Nabachandra Singh spoke on the topic 'natural and man-made disaster and earthquake' and stressed on other disaster safety measures .
Speaking at the sidelines of the training programme, Principal Secretary Relief and Disaster Management, Government of Manipur MH Khan stated that the objective of the training is to create awareness not only to district level officers but to all the stakeholders .
He said that the department concerned is to create awareness on relief aspect and disaster management so that losses can be minimized .
The officer further mentioned that similar training will be conduct at all district headquarters of the State within this year .
A mock demonstration on fire hazards and use of different extinguishers/improvisations and manual extinguishing method was conducted by Manipur Fire Service team led by L Nabachandra Singh .
Over 70 members drawn from DLOs, NGOs, civil society leaders and Church leaders, SDOs, ADCs attended the training programme.
