CCpur, August 05 2017:
The Zomi Re-Unification Organisation (ZRO), a member of the UPF, has today dispatched a message to the Churches under its gambit soliciting their prayer support for the successful conclusion of the tripartite political dialogue to be held in New Delhi on August 9 .
The third round of the tripartite political talks will be significant as it reportedly is the first such dialogue to be held after the Government's appointment of an interlocutor .
Soliciting the prayer, ZRO in their memo which was also circulated to the public acknowledged the unremitting support and prayers they have received for the collective political survival of 'our' people .
"Please thank God for leading us thus far; irrespective of the trying and difficult times coupled with covert and overt challenges and helped us in sustaining the peace process," said the ZRO in their letter to Church leaders, congregation elders and prayer partners .
The memo also noted a significant clause for the upcoming dialogue, 'with changing circumstances, particularly after the signing of the Framework Agreement by the Government with Naga groups, the UPF in consultation with NDA leadership as well as all other stakeholders within the Zo people, decided to remodel its political stand based on Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Assam without compromising the spirit of Autonomous Hill State (AHS).'
The UPF, it said had earlier tabled AHS as their demand before the Government .
That demand, it appears, has now been amended or rather rationalized to a status acceptable to New Delhi following the reported consultation with the Centre.
