Farmer's awareness programme held at Pangmol

Kangpokpi, December 03 2018:
An awareness programme on construction of vermin composition at low cost and promotion of medicinal plant 'Moringa' was held at Pangmol village in Kangpokpi District.
The awareness programme was organized by Agriculture Department, Sadar Hills Autonomous District, Kangpokpi with an aim to provide knowledge of agriculture to farmers of Kangpokpi district for sustainable livelihood.
As part of the awareness programme, Parkia Speciosa (Yongchak) saplings was also distributed to the farmers after giving an intensive and proper awareness on the process of planting the saplings and other requirement for the successful plantation of the saplings.
Hundreds of farmers from Pangmol and its adjoining areas attended the awareness programme apart from officials and staff of Agriculture Department of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi.
Nongthombam Tolen, AO Agri (SC), Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi while addressing the farmers, imparted various agricultural knowledge to the farmers while stressing on the method to make Vermin composition in quick, simple and inexpensive way.
He also highlighted the various components required for construction of Vermin Composition, the step to be taken up and the detail procedure, its harvesting method.
He further said that Vermin Compost will increase the income of farmer marginally and it will make people healthy, due to decrease use of Chemical fertilizer.
The Agriculture Officer further stressed on importance of Moringa plant for treatment and prevention of various diseases, its sources and contents, etc.
