2 hurt, 4 houses torched at Sangaiyumpham's fresh clash

Imphal, June 29 2011:
In continuation of the clash which occurred on May 9 at Sangaiyumpham, a fresh clash erupted on Tuesday night in which two were left with bullet injuries.
Following the clash, four houses were also burnt down today afternoon.
In order to control the clash, District Magistrate Thoubal district has imposed an indefinite curfew in the area.
The two injured victims were identified as Makakmayum Razak (25) son of Md Allauddin and Md Imtiyaj Khan (25) son of Siraz Ahmed.
Both are from Sangaiyumpham Cherapur Mathak Leikai Part 2.According to family members, some members of the Phundreimayum group led by Md Akhan (28) with Md Umar (28), Md Nahamadi (29), Md Islauddin (30) and Md Tapsi Khan (30) came at night and shot Razak in his home.
He was rushed to the RIMS hospital.
After the incident, police patrolled the area to prevent fresh clashes.
Today's clash erupted in the evening and four houses of the Makakmayum group were torched.
When police rushed to the spot, some villagers fired at them which led to a gunfight.
When police teams led by SP Jayenta and Additional SP Jogeshchandra entered the area with bullet proof vehicles, the attackers fled.
When the police were trying to control the clash, many villagers came and tried to torch police vehicles which forced the police to resort to blank fires and thrashed the mob.
The burnt houses belong to Meraimayum Amin (62), his younger brothers Mubil (31) and Yasin (25) and his elder brother Hazi Wazeed Ali (75).Police has rounded up 46 persons in relation with the clash.
They are being detained in different police stations in Imphal.
Whether the 46 will be remanded in police custody has not been confirmed till the filing of this report.
