Governor, CM greet people on Gandhi Jayanti

Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister N Biren Singh have conveyed their greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Governor, in her message, said that the message of Mahatma Gandhi for peaceful co-existence has become increasingly relevant in the present situation of Manipur which represents a miniature India so as to ensure peace and harmony in the society.
Saying that Mahatma Gandhi led the Nation in its struggle for freedom from the colonial rule of British by using non-violence as his most powerful weapon, Anusuiya continued that Mahatma Gandhi was an apostle of truth and non-violence.
She said that Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest theorist and practitioner of truth, non-violence and tolerance.
Saying that National Cleanliness is also observed on 2nd October every year, the Governor appealed to one and all to take a resolution to maintain a state of cleanliness as a regular feature and make the observance meaningful, The Chief Minister, on the other hand, said that the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi have eternal value and his philosophy of Ahimsa is more relevant in today's world.
Continuing that Manipur, however, is witnessing a disturbing phase with disruptive forces both from within and outside working to disrupt the fabric of peace and harmony in the State, N Biren maintained that tribes and communities have also been pitted against each other by making use of deceit and dishonest narratives of history and events.
The Chief Minister further said that every Manipuri must trust one another and act as one to defeat these forces through dialogue and non-violent means.
