Imphal, April 25 2018:
Reacting to the allegation made by Congress Spokesperson H Goswami that around Rs 3 crore sanctioned for the renovation work of MPSC was misappropriated by a contractor although the work was carried out by another contractor, Works Minister Th Biswajit clarified that the renovation work was executed after the Planning Department handed over the task to the Works Department.
Speaking to media persons at his Sanjenthong official quarter today, Biswajit said that the then Principal Secretary (Planning) Vineet Joshi issued an order on January 27 of last year handing over the renovation work of MPSC to the Works Department at the cost of Rs 3.50 crore and subsequently an amount of Rs 2,93,42,609 was deposited on March 27 last.
The Minister further clarified that the Works Department had floated a proper tender for awarding the renovation work including electrical work.
However, the department did not know that the work was awarded to Manipur Development Society (MDS).
The whole process was executed during the
tenure of the Congress rule, he said.
