Imphal, April 25 2018:
Former Congress MLA Dr Ng Bijoy has urged the State Government to build the Imphal East District Hospital at Sagolmang taking the welfare and the interest of the people of the district into consideration.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhawan today, Ng Bijoy claimed that during the time of the Congress Government, the current Chief Minister N Biren Singh as well as the Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar were present when the decision to establish Imphal East District Hospital at Sagolmang was taken.
Claiming that the then Health Minister had expressed that there would be no delay/obstruction regarding the construction of the hospital if there are no land disputes, Bijoy explained that District Hospitals are created for each district so as to give secondary health care and the construction of a district hospital at the concerned district will ensure that the people of the particular district receive much needed medical care without any hassle.
The distance from Sagolmang to JNIMS is far greater than that from Keirao to JNIMS, Bijoy said and added that the distance from Keirao to JNIMS is far shorter compared to the distance from Molkon village of Khundrakpam to Sagolmang.
He also explained that patients are usually brought from Molkon village to Sagolmang and from Sagolmang the patients are usually taken to JNIMS.
As there are no more land issues, construction of District Hospital at Sagolmang will please the people of Imphal East, he added.
Bijoy said that on November 23 last year, Health and Family Welfare Department issued allocation order for the construction of various District Hospitals.
The order mentioned the construction of Imphal East District Hospital at the place where the Common Service Centre (CSC) is located in Sagolmang.
The location of the CSC was slated to be shifted to Bashikhong, he said and expressed desire for District Hospital to be constructed at Sagolmang at the earliest.
