Remanded to judicial custody

Imphal, July 19 2017:
Two individuals who were recently arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the killing of PREPAK chairman N Nongdrenkhomba and his driver Leishangthem Sanjit have been remanded to judicial custody till August 4 by the Special Judge, NIA, Manipur .
The Court also fixed the bail application hearing of one of the accused, Sairom Rabichandra alias Rabi on July 26 .
The two co accused of the case Sairom Rabichandra alias Rabi (39) s/o Sairom Ahanbi of Uripok Yambem Leikai and Sapam Basanta alias Chaoba (38) s/o Bonbihari of Tera Sapam Leirak were produced before the Special Court NIA Manipur by an NIA team along with a prayer for 15 days judicial remand by NIA Delhi SP, Ankit Grag .
The Court perused the prayer and remanded both the accused to judicial custody till August 4 and also fixed the bail application hearing filed by Sairom Rabichandra before the Court through his counsel .
It may be mentioned that Rabichandra was arrested by an NIA team on July 12 from his residence for allegedly supplying the weapon used in the crime and Sapam Basanta was arrested on July 14 for concealing the said weapon at his residence and the NIA team also recovered two small arms from Basanta's possession during his arrest .
Few days before the arrest of the two co-accused, NIA had filed a charge sheet before the Special Court NIA Manipur on July 7 against Thokchom Gouri alias Ibungo alias Konsam (25) s/o Ibomcha of Wangoo Sandangkhong and five others identified as Ahongsangbam Kingson alias Yaiphaba (23) s/o (L) Chaoba of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai, Laichomba Naocha alias Malangba alias KK Nganba (24) s/o Basanta of Sugnu Wangpokpi Mamang Leikai, Haobam Ahead alias Lemba (40) s/o (L) Dinakumar of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai and Urinkhinbam Budhichandra alias Budhi alias Poirei .
Th Gouri, A Kingson and Haobam Ahead are in judicial custody while KK Nganba is on bail and Budhi alias Poirei is still at large .
It may be mentioned that PREPAK chairman Ningombam Nabachandra alias Nongdrenkhomba and his driver, Leishangthem Sanjit alias Chingkhei were found shot to death inside a quarter located inside the 7th Manipur Rifles campus, Khaibeisoi, in the intervening night of July 21 and 22, last year.
