Court reserves charge hearing for RIMS telecobalt case till July 24

Imphal, July 19 2017:
Special Judge, Prevention of Corruption, Imphal West has reserved the charge hearing order in connection with the fund misappropriation in the purchasing of telecobalt machine of RIMS Hospital against two former Directors of RIMS and four other individuals till July 24 .
The charge hearing order has been kept on reserve after the continuation of the charge hearing against all the accused before the Court today .
All the accused including former RIMS Director Lallukham Fimate, former RIMS Director Sinam Sekharjit, former HoD (Radiotherapy) Dr Th Tomcha, Himansu Sharma of Faridabad Haryana and Scott Macintosh of Canada except Sahid Hussain were present before the Court during the charge hearing .
It may be mentioned that CBI (ACB), Kolkata, had filed the charge sheet against L Fimate and five others on April, last year before the Special Judge Prevention of Corruption, Imphal West for fund misappropriation in the purchase of telecobalt machine of RIMS Regional Cancer Centre .
CBI (ACB) Imphal Branch, registered an FIR on the basis of the information received from reliable sources that in 2006, RIMS received a project grant of Rs 5 crore for Regional Cancer Centre project from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare .
The charge sheet submitted by the CBI (ACB) Kolkata before the Court further alleged that two former RIMS Directors and former HoD of RIMS Radiotherapy conspired with each other and some other unknown individuals and abused their official position to favour a private company while buying the telecobalt machine and making RIMS suffer a loss of Rs 1 crore.
