Chaoba to be new chief of State BJP Unit

Ex-MP Thounaojam Chaoba, who has recently joined BJP and has been approved to be a member of the party's National Council, is all set to be elected as the new President of BJP, Manipur State Unit with two members of BJP National Unit arriving here tomorrow to make an official announcement in this regard.
P Chandra Shekhar Rao, Zonal Organisation Secretary, BJP, North East in-charge and Prakash Javadekar, BJP, National Spokesperson arrived in Imphal today and met the leaders of State Unit and discussed minutely over the appointment of a new State Unit President.
With the term of Sh Shantikumar Sharma as President of BJP, Manipur State Unit expired yesterday; there have been some discrepancies over appointment of new President.
However, differences of opinion between two groups in the party have been settled with the arrival of the two National leaders of the party here today.
However, since an election has to be conducted for the post of President, the same would be done tomorrow and Th Chaoba remains the lone candidate filing nomination for the post till the final hour today.
Outgoing President Shantikumar and Vice President Prof S Tikendra, who were initially among the intending candidates, did not file their nomination papers at all.
As such Th Chaoba is all set to be declared as the new President of the State Unit tomorrow, informed a source from BJP, State Unit.
Addressing media persons at the Nityapat Chuthek Office of State BJP unit here today, Prakash Javadekar stated that the a consensus candidate for the post of President of BJP State Unit has been brought out in consultation with office bearers of State Unit and accordingly only one candidate has filed the nomination.
The elected President would be officially announced tomorrow after the arrival of two BJP, National leaders in the State.
While accusing the UPA government of discriminating the people of the North East, he said that all developmental programmes in the State have been delayed.
The programmes taken up under the DoNER Ministry have completely failed in the North East.
This is because of the corrupt administration of UPA government.
