Stop looting people, do not abolish Labour Laws: CPI

Many units of Communist Party of India (M), Manipur State Council, as a part of the Nationwide protest, have staged a sit in raising many pertinent demands.
According to a statement of the CPI Manipur State Committee, the party demanded that all low income earners and those not covered under income tax be provided Rs 7,500 through cash transfer on their respective account in wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Provide 10 kg rice to each person for 6 months; increase MNREGA working days to 200; introduce employment generation schemes for poor town dwellers; provide allowance to unemployed youths were also among the list of the demands.
The party also asked the Government to stop looting the National treasury; privatisation of Public Sector Units and abolition of Labour Laws.
The protest staged at the State party office at Paona Keithel was participated by State unit secretary, Kshetrimayum Santa; member, Sarat Salam and other party cadres, the statement said.
Ksh Santa speaking at the occasion highlighted that the way the Government is dealing with the COVID-19 crisis is inefficient which is clearly reflected by the unprecedented spike in the number of positive cases.
Meanwhile, Sarat Salam said that the Government should consider the demands and the proposals raised by the party as it will greatly help in alleviating the sufferings of the people induced by the pandemic.
