Imphal, March 16 2015:
Amid stirring demands to enact the Inner Line Permit System in the State, Indigenous People's Association Kangleipak (IPAK) alleged fraudulent registration of non-Manipuri names in the State's electoral rolls.
Speaking to media persons at IPAK office, Sapamcha Jadumani, chairman, IPAK alleged that four teachers of Little Flower School namely Sr Tresho Carot, Roni Elizabeth, Lucy Gangmei and Martha Soiji were listed against house no 193 (Patsoi AC) which is non-existent.
Upon investigation, it has been reported that Lucy Gangmei is now based in Nagaland while Sr Martha Soiji is the headmistress of Little Flower School who is to retire next year, Sapamcha Jadumani said.
Accusing the State Government of failing to scrutinize the continuous influx of non-Manipuris in the State, Jadumani said that such negligence would pose a great threat to the indigenous people of Manipur.
Manipuris settled in other States for many years are not given permission to be listed in the electoral rolls of that particular State.
However, in Manipur, fraudulent registration of non-Manipuri names have been reported, added Jadumani.
IPAK urged the State Government to take up immediate measures to ensure that the indigenous people of Manipur are given the right to live in the State without any fear of being predominated by non-Manipuris.
