Ex-Minister Allaudin passes away

Imphal, October 15 2012:
Ex-Minister Md Allaudin Khan, who had served the state for two consecutive terms under the SPF government, passed away this evening at around 4:30 pm at Dharmashala Cancer Hospital, Mayur Bihar in New Delhi.
He was 53 .
The ex-Minister is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters.
Md Allaudin Khan had been suffering from mouth cancer for the last three years and was undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Delhi.
As his health deteriorated, he was later shifted to Dharmashala Cancer Hospital some three months back and has been undergoing treatment there.
It was at around 4:30 in the evening that he was declared death by the hospital authority.
During his treatment, Md Allaudin Khan had undergone chemotherapy treatment for not less than 25 times.
It has been informed that up till now, there have been no instances where a single individual receives chemotherapy treatment 25 times, excepting Md Allaudin Khan.
The body of Md Allaudin Khan would be brought to Imphal from Delhi tomorrow at around 11:30 am and it would be taken straight to the office of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee where a condolence meeting would be held.
Floral tributes will also be offered by leaders of the party at the Congress office as mark of respect to the departed soul.
Later his body would be taken to his birthplace, Keirao where the last rites would be performed.
Right from his school days, Md Alauddin Khan was involved in social works.
He was the Vice Presidents of AMSU and All Manipur Student's Coordinating Committee in 1980 and took active role on the issue of illegal migrants.
Later, he worked as a journalist and edited 'Phidam', a bi-monthly journal.
He joined politics in 2002 when he contested and got elected to the 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections on Congress ticket from Keirao A/C.During that term, he was appointed as the Minister of State in charge of Power and PHED.
He was again re-elected to 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly from the same constituency and went on to become cabinet Minister in charge of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and MOBC.
Home Minister Gaikhangam has expressed sorrow at the untimely death of the renowned politician and Congress leader.
In his condolence message Gaikhangam said that the demise of Md Allauddin Khan is a big loss for the state.
Condoling the death of Md Allaudin Khanm, Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya observed Md Allaudin Khan worked his entire life for the welfare of the people of Manipur including the Muslim Minority.
"He is one of the few leaders of the state who always championed the cause of downtrodden and disadvantaged section of the society.
In his death, the state has lost an upcoming young politician and a social worker.
It is indeed a huge loss for all of us", Dr Meinya said.
The MP also sent his sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
While sharing the sorrow and grief of the bereaved family, the MP also has prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace in Heaven.
MLA of Wabagai A/C Md Fajur Rahim, MLA of Wabagai A/C has also expressed sorrow over his early death.
Chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission A Halim Chowdhury IAS(Retd.), the Members Prof..M.SNingomba and Rev..NDeben, the Secretary and all staff members of the Commission have also condoled the sudden demise of the former MOBC Minister Md.Alauddin Khan.
In his message, the Chairperson remembered the important roles played by the deceased during his life for the welfare of the Minority Muslim Communities in the State and said that vacuum which he left behind could never be refilled.
