Senapati, August 13 2019:
The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) has reminded the Government of a memorandum it had submitted demanding upgradation and conversion of Senapati Government Aided Junior High School into a full-fledged Government high school.
During a press meet held at SDSA office, its president Kaikho Hopeson Mao said that the association had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister during the last Cabinet meeting held at Senapati.
He claimed that they had met the Education Minister several times but 'no concrete step has been taken up so far to upgrade the lone school in the district HQs'.
Vice president of SDSA, James Hau stated that there are about 38 revenue villages in and around the DHQs, out of which, majority of the families are under below poverty line (BPL).
"As the children of these areas need a proper school, it is a must that the school be made a full fledged high school," he said.
Pung Mark, gen secy SDSA stated that the student body is expecting 'something good before the coming State Assembly on August 26'.The student body would be compelled to take up any democratic form of agitation if its demands are not heard, he said.
Students of the school for the first time had appeared in 2002 HSLCE under Mao-Maram High School.
Results of the students of the school so far are 'satisfactory' as compared to performance of other Govt schools in the State.
It may be noted that the TNK, Senapati village headman and chairman had 'donated about 1,42,266 sq feet land for upgradation into a full fledged Govt high school.
