K Bobin bids adieu to his cricket career

Manipur's Senior cricketer Konthoujam Bobin, who is also known well in the State as a contemporary singer, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket Tuesday (August 13, 2019).Konthoujam Bobin, born to Late K Tombingou Singh and K Pramodini of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, Imphal West and was in the State's Ranji Trophy debut team, started his cricketing career at Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) in 1994 as a left arm spinner.
He played in numerous one day, test match and T-20 matches for TRAU, which is one of the elite cricket teams in the State and Manipur on two occasions.
Bobin made his mark as a successful bowler for TRAU when he picked up 8 wickets against YAC in Manipur's 1st 3-Day Match held in the year 1996 and his career's best figure in one day format was 6-wicket haul.
Bobin also scripted history by becoming the first State player to grab a hat-trick in the 1st Luwangpokpa T-20 Cricket Tournament 2017 where TRAU faced Blue Hawk, Khurai.
He managed an 8-wicket haul in 4 overs in this match before emerging as the highest wicket taker of the tournament.
Bobin represented Manipur in the MP Verma Cricket Cup which was held in Bihar in 2017 before making his place in the State's debutant Ranji Trophy (Plate Group) team last year.
He played a match against Arunachal Pradesh at Kolkata in this one of the most prestigious first class domestic tournaments and picked up a wicket.
Bobin remained with his parent team, TRAU besides pursuing a successful career in music for years and after almost 25 years he decided to call time on his cricketing career due to his growing age and receding physical fitness.
Bobin however expressed strong desire to open up a cricket academy and contribute his best in the development of Cricket in the State.
He is married to Dr Nganbi and has two daughters.
