Among others rampant corruption in Manipur, controversial Indo-Myanmar border fencing project and imposition of AFSPA would be highlighted at the national convention followed by protest campaigns on various issues, said Akhil Bharatiya Brastachar Nirmulan Sangharsha Samiti national president Pradeep Patil.
Addressing a news conference at Manipur Press Club today, Pradeep said Manipur too is afflicted with the country-wide malaise of corruption in almost every sector.
Informing that the Samiti activists have been touring the North East region to take first hand account of socio-political issues besetting the region, he conveyed Samiti's strong annoyance upon discovering that Manipur would imminently lose its territorial boundary if the ongoing Indo-Myanmar border fencing is allowed to proceed.
Stating that Samiti members went to assess the fencing work, the national president demanded that both the Central and Manipur Government take immediate measures to protect the State's boundary.
Informing that the samiti members today visited Loktak Pat (Lake) and collected report from various NGOs about misuse of Loktak development fund, Pradeep declared that corruption in Loktak Lake development would be put up before the Supreme Court.
Conveying solidarity to Irom Chanu Sharmila's relentless campaign for repealing AFSPA from Manipur and the NE region, he said the issue would be discussed at the Samiti's national convention scheduled in March next.
The national president also announced nomination of Yanglet Haokip and Salam Lala as State president and working president respectively of All India Anti-Corruption Committee, a unit of the Samiti.
Samiti's national vice president L Basanta Sharma was also present during the media briefing, added Sanajaoba.
