After the public meeting which was organized by the Committee on Re-organisation of Administrative and Police Boundaries (CRAPB), Abon Kamei, the President of the Tongjei Maril District Demand Committee told media persons that Tongjei Maril has been regarded as one of the most important places in the state.
The Tongjei Maril road, since time immemorial has been used by Kings as the shortest distance to Assam.
Inspite of its importance the road has never been mended by the government and has been left in the worst condition.
As such the people residing in Tongjei Maril has been deprived of the various opportunities that should have been made available to them.
For a better administrative convenience, it is high time that Tongjei Maril be converted into a full fledged district.

Senapati district should be left as it is.
If at all Sadar hills is to be formed then Saikul should come under Senapati or Ukhrul district and not under Sadar Hills.
The Public Hearing was also attended by DGP, Y Joykumar and Under Secretary, Revenue department, Balkrishna Haisnam.
