CNPO sticks to stand

The Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO) has today reiterated that 2500 MT storage capacity FCI godown for Chandel district should be constructed at Liwa Khullen in Chandel district.
A meeting was convened on this matter today by the CNPO at its office located at the district headquarters where several leaders of civil societies organizations, chiefs, frontal organizations of Chandel attended the meeting.
Gabriel Chinir, President of the CNPO said that the matter of constructing FCI godown in Chandel first came up in 2010.Liwa khullen was then proposed for the site.
Accordingly, several inspections were undertaken with the involvement of the concerned authority, district administration and CSOs which approved Liwa Khullen to be the appropriate site.
As a consequent, the district administration had taken the decision which is pursued till date.
At this juncture when the people are expecting the State Govt to expedite the construction work, CNPO is shocked and surprised by the statement made by the concerned minister and several organizations through media that FCI godown would be constructed at Molnoi village, Chinir said.
While clarifying that CNPO's is not against any community especially that of Molnoi area, Gavbriel Chinir termed that the delay tactics and lackadaisical attitude of the Government is unfortunate and went on to appeal the Govt to expedite the process and begin the construction work.
Wangshol Kanral Anal, social activist, said that the Additional Secretary (CAF& PD) Consumers Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department, Govt of Manipur, namely M Yaiskul Meitei in his letter No.9/1/2010-CAF&PD/Pt.I/246 dated January 18, 2013 had directed the Deputy Commissioner Chandel to go ahead with the construction of FCI go down at Liwa khullen and further stated that the Govt also asked the DC Chandel to expedite the process for acquisition of land.
