Imphal, October 24 2010:
Decrying the failure of Government to translate its assurance into action over the already agreed demands of implementing the revised UGC pay scale and Age of Superannuation in according to the existing scheme, Federation of College Teachers' Association, Manipur (FECTAM) announced that the college teachers are prepared for launching various intense agitation for their due rights.
In a statement, FECTAM convenor M Lokendro Singh said that college teachers have been restraining themselves from taking recourse to any agitational move in the interest of the student community.
But, now the tolerance limit of the college teachers has been crossed as the Government has failed to implement the demands of FECTAM even after more than 15 days of expiry of the deadline given by the Education Minister himself.
Lokendro asserted that the college teachers are not asking for any additional privilege.
UGC pay scale is not a new thing to the college teachers in Manipur and it has been in force for around 37 years now with revision from time to time.
So, the college teachers are asking for implementing the revised UGC pay scale only which has already been done so in other States.
