Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has suggested that Ministers spare atleast one hour in a week for interactive sessions with Congress party workers so that the latter could not only highlight their grievances but also convey wish of the common public.
Speaking at the '90 Dal Day' organised by Congress Seva Dal today, Gaikhangam, also the MPCC president, confided that on the instruction of the party's high command specific programme has been charted out for interaction between party Ministers and workers in Congress-ruled States.

Inspite of being one of the busiest Ministers, the Chief Minister always attends party functions and whenever present at the party office interacts with party workers to discuss specific issues that not only concerns interest of the party workers but is also important for the State, said the Deputy CM apparently hinting that other Ministers too strive to establish better relationships with those working for the organisation at the grassroots level.
Disagreeing with the present trend of party workers' constant presence at the Secretariat to meet the Ministers, he reiterated that party Ministers spare some time in a week to enable the party workers highlight their desire and place positive suggestions in the party office.
Further suggesting that Ministers and party MLAs embarking on internal tour programmes either intimate their schedules to the district/block office bearers to make them aware about the visit or inform Congress Bhavan for further conveyance to district/block offices, Gaikhangam emphasised that tour programmes of Ministers/MLAs seemingly lacking coordination with the party workers should be avoided at all times.
Reminding that only through coordination with the party workers the Congress party would remain a vibrant political organisation, he strongly stressed on maximum involvement of party units' office bearers as well as frontal and cell functionaries.
Describing Seva Dal as an important component of the Congress organisation along with exuberating that Seva Dal volunteers in Manipur are considered one of the strongest and efficient units in the country, the State party chief also exhorted Seva Dal workers to strive for further excellence and effectiveness.
