Yairipok lads win Sadar Hills Half Marathon

Sadar Hills Half Marathon 2013, co-sponsored by European Manipuri Association (EMA) was conducted today with more than 30 participants under the theme "Higher, Stronger and Better Education" in Sadar Hills.
The race which began from Sapormeina along NH-2 was flagged off by Kanggui Addl.SP Zakir.
In the men's section, L.Milan Singh (18) of Yairipok, Imphal covered 18 kms(approx) distance in 52 mins 50 sec s 26 millisecs to win the first prize.
Amir Khan (17) of Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai, Imphal who covered the same distance in 53 mins 08 secs 28 millisecs won the second prize while Rafidamat (18), also of Yairipok, finished third in 56 mins 34 secs 41 millisecs.

In women's section, Nengboichong Hangshing(12) of Phailen Village, Saikul, Sadar Hills won the race in 1 hr 23 mins 11 secs followed by Hatdeikim Sitlhou(17) in 1hr 30 mins 55 secs with Lamnunhoi Neishel, Nengneivah Chongloi and Ngahnunhoi Chongloi finishing third in 1 hr 37 mins 45 secs.
.LMilan Singh, who bagged third position in Kangleipak Marathon held at Imphal, urged every youth in Manipur to avoid drugs and involved in Sports for healthy living while Amir Khan, who bagged second position in Kangleipak Marathon urged the organizing committee to organize bigger events for greater achievements.
Rafidamat stressed on the important of Games and Sports in moulding the career of today's youths and called upon the Youths of Sadar Hills to uplift the standard and spirit of Sports in Sadar Hills.
The Organizing Committee President Chonminlen Gangte, who himself also participated in the race while lauding the efforts of everyone for the success of the events, highlighted the vital role of Sports in the society particularly among the youngsters.
He assured that a bigger event will be organized in future.
The top three winners in both Men's and Women's category were awarded cash prizes of Rs.5000, Rs.3000 and Rs.2000 each with certificate, medal and a Kuki traditional muffler each while all the participants were presented with one medal.
The prizes were distributed by Rev.Siehpao Hangshing, Pastor KIBC and Insp.L.Vaiphei, Officer in-Charge, Kanggui Police Station.
