DESAM alleges no mid day meal at Children Nursing School

Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has alleged that mid day meal facilities have not be provided at P Ibomcha Children Nursing Junior High School, Nambol for quite a long time, appealing the Government to look into the same at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at DESAM head office at Kwakeithel today, its general secretary Sheetal Oinam said that DESAM launched an inspection drive to the said school and found that the kitchen of the school in a very dilapidated condition.
Even the utensils and cookwares had not been used nor cleaned in such a long time that they were infested with flies and maggots, Sheetal alleged adding that when DESAM volunteers questioned some sources, they were told that the school, having classes from Class I to VIII, has a total of 41 students.
Sheetal continued that source claimed that the rice and supplies provided for the mid day meal were sold away by the school management committee.
The source further informed that the school had three Govt approved and 6 unapproved teachers but after a complaint was raised to the State Government regarding seniority issues, all 6 unapproved teachers were suspended on October 8 and the three Govt approved teachers were tasked with teaching all the students from class I to VIII.
Condemning the suspension of the teachers as well as the dilapidated condition of the mid day meal process at the school, Sheetal Oinam appealed to the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
