Pangolins play a vital role in the ecosystem as their long tongues help them to control termite populations.
The biggest issue is lack of awareness.
Very little is known about even their most basic biology, and this is hampering conservation efforts.
Pangolins are said to be the world's most smuggled animal and they are now becoming a threatened species as they are hunted for their scales for different traditional purposes.
The kind of Pangolin species found in Tamenglong is said to be one of the endangered species. Many wildlife lovers and students attended the Saturday's observation.
