An Astrophysics team led by Physics Department, MU Prof Kangujam Jugindro has discovered a Ultra-luminous X-ray Source Candidate (ULX) in the galaxy called NGC 3384, said a press release issued by Astrophysics Team Head, Prof K Jugindro.
The release further stated that the discovery was made with the reference of Chandra Satellite Data of NASA, USA.
The discovered ULX has been named as ULX X-8.ULX is an object which is a million times brighter than the Sun.
The discovery of ULX X-8 was reported to Astrophysics and Space Science, Springer, Netherlands on May 5, 2014.The discovery was then published in journals on September 6 after it got the confirmation at Netherlands.
The discovery has earned a respectable place for the team amongst other small telescope based Astronomy and Theoretical Astrophysics , not only in India but also in Asia.
Prof K Jugindro Singh has been invited to speak in the conferences which would be held at Boston, USA and Sanghai, China.
