Narsingh remembered

Imphal, April 11 2011:
Maharaja Narsingh was remembered today on his 161st death anniversary which the state observed as National Dedication Day.
MP Dr T Meinya attended as chief guest of the function held at Kangla fort.
E Sonamani Singh presided over the function, (Retd) Col, H Bhuban and RK Jhalajit attended as guests of honour.
A souvenir was released by the chief guest.
Eight persons and organisations were conferred the National Dedication Award on the occasion recognizing their distinguished services in their respective fields.
The awardees were Kshetrimayum Godadhar in culture, Sumitra Phurailatpam in agriculture, SI Okram Binoychandra in police service, Sylvia Keisham for her dedication in studies (she topped the HSLC exams) and Sangbonliu in teaching.
Among organisations, the Children Home for Girls, Thoubal was awarded for its distinguished service in child care, Union Taekwondo Academy Keishamthong for producing excellent sportspersons.
Rupmahal Theatre also received the appreciation award in the National Dedication Day celebration.
The awards consisted of a citation each with a cash package.
