Seminar marks Indigenous Brothers Meet

The 12th Indigenous Brothers meet was held today at Manipur Press Club.
Organised by the League of Fourth World People, Kangleipak, the meet was attended by representatives of 15 different ethnic indigenous communities of the State.
Presentation of respective communities' rituals and important festivals marked the meet.
Representatives of Baite, Chiru, Chothe, Gangte, Inpui, Kabui, Khoibu, Koireng, Kom, Maram, Maring, Meitei, Paite and Rongmei participated in the meet.
A seminar on the ritual and traditional festivals of all ethnic communities of Kangleipak was also held.
Ex-Minister RV Mingthing and president of LFWPK Mangpu Karoung Kom were the chief guest and president respectively of the inaugural function of the seminar.
Former Chairperson of BOSEM P Nabakumar Singh; president of AMWJU W Shamjai; vice-president of LFWPK Hungyo Mera Tangkhul; LM Issac Aimol and Thumbu Maram were the guests of honour.
RV Minthing said, the fact that all ethnic communities of Kangleipak shared a common origin is substantiated by Mera Houchongba celebration.
Divisions among the indigenous communities of the State happened after the people proselytised into different faiths and religions, he said.
Unification of the different indigenous communities can be achieved only when the people practise their original faiths, RV Mingthing observed.
The epochal event, Seven Years Devastation was a result of disunity among the indigenous communities of the State, Mingthing said while urging all concerned to strive to coexist in unity.
Mangpu Karoung Kom said the Indigenous Brothers Meet has been organised to provide a platform where all communities mingle and interact with each others.
The bond of unity and brotherhood can be strengthened with frequent interactions.
Resource persons of the technical session included Kungsong Wanbe, Chinzamuan Paite, Richongshong Chiru.
