Home guards seek Govt's attention

Manipur Home Guard employees' Association and Action Committee today they will launch stir starting June 20 if the State Government fails to fulfil their list of demands within the stipulated date.
Speaking to mediapersons at Manipur Press Club, Y Mangi, president, Manipur Home Guard employees' Association said, "There are many home guards who are above 70 years.
As such, the State Government should enquire into the matter.
Stern action should take up against home guards who have violated the rules" .
He also said that a separate division for female home guards with a qualified female commander should be set up.
Salary of the home guards should be equal with that of the constables, he added.
Y Mangi said that the Supreme Court had already issued an order to implement the demands of the home guards.
"If our list of demands is not fulfilled at the earliest, we launch an intense stir from June 20 onwards," he said.
