NE States propose joint border survey

The North Eastern States which share international borders with Myanmar have collectively urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to take up the controversies surrounding the international boundary with the Ministry of External Affairs for early resolution.
The North Eastern States raised the issue during a convention of Chief Secretaries and DGPs which was held yesterday with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the chair, informed a source Most of the North Eastern States including Manipur have border disputes with neighbouring Myanmar.
The Union Home Minister was apprised that Myanmar army has opened a post near Haollenphai, close to the border town of Moreh.
Officials who attended the meeting also mentioned about intrusion into Haollenphai and confiscation of saw mill components by Myanmarese army.
Officials representing Manipur urged the MHA to issue strict instructions to militants groups under SoO pact to abide by SoO ground rules.
Apart from raising the matter of pending stipends for two years entitled to cadres of SoO groups, the State officials urged the Union Home Minister to release the pending stipend amount.
Another agenda discussed at the convention was immigration of Rohingyas from Rakhine State of Myanmar through Bangladesh into the North Eastern States including Manipur, conveyed the source.
Manipur has had many border disputes with Myanmar in the past.
IED explodes at border town Moreh : An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by unknown person (s) exploded near Galngam Lentol ground, Moreh along the Indo-Myanmar border today at around 7.20 pm.
There was no casualty in the blast.
Soon after the explosion, a team of police rushed to the village and inspected the blast site.
