AR jawan hurt in PLA's bomb attack

Imphal, October 15 2012:
A personnel of 33 Assam Rifles sustained serious injuries in a bomb attacked carried out by PLA, the armed wing of the proscribed RPF, at a spot in between Arong Nongmaikhong and Khordak under Mayang Imphal Police Station today.
The incident occurred near a bridge at around 12:30 pm today.
The injured AR personnel has been identified as Naik Subedar Negi Bora (38) of Madhya Pradesh, presently posted at the Sekmaijin camp of 33 Assam Rifles.
According to police report, the bomb blast occurred while a team of 33 Assam Rifles was on their ROP duty in Arong Nongmaikhong area.
Dividing into two groups, the AR jawans were patrolling along both sides of Imphal River.
The group patrolling along Nongmaikhong side was waiting for the other team patrolling on the other side near a bridge, when the bomb went off injuring the Niak Subedar.
The bomb was believed to have been triggered via a remote control device.
The Naik Subedar sustained multiple splinter injuries on his head, chest, hands and legs.
He was immediately air lifted to the Army hospital at Laimakhong.
The condition of the injured AR jawan is said to be stable.
As soon as the report of the blast reached, Manipur Police Commandos and AR personnel rushed to the spot and carried out extendive search operations.
However, there is no report of any arrest made in connection with the bomb blast.
Meanwhile, the proscribed RPF has claimed responsibility over the bomb blast saying that it was carried out by its armed wing, PLA.
In a statement, Secretary Publicity of RPF T Leishemba said that it was part of its ongoing drive against the security forces.
