Imphal, May 15 2020: With the lockdown 3.0 coming to an end in two days (May 17), individuals, CSOs and more continue to extend solidarity to public.

A visually impaired person who had donated 64 units of blood helped
A visually impaired Khundrakpam Premjit has said that he had donated 64 units of blood till date and the satisfaction he received after donating blood is priceless.

Speaking to media persons when Rakesh Naorem, a social and cultural activist, was visiting him to provide food items, Premjit, who hails from Lamdeng Makha Leikai, continued that he donated blood for the very first time in 1999 and till date, he had donated 64 units of blood.

He also said that he lost his sight when he was just 10 years old.

An agreement was signed in 2016 to donate my whole body after death to RIMS for research and education, he said, appealing all to donate blood at least once to save lives.

At the programme, Rakesh appealed to all concerned to reach out to people like Premjit who have sacrificed for the State despite their disability, especially during the lockdown.

On the other hand, similar help was also extended to the family members of writer Thoudam Netrajit, who also is from Lamdeng Makha Leikai.

UCM continues yeomen service
As a part of its continuous relief services to the needy and vulnerable sections in both hill and valley in face of the COVID-19 lockdown, United Committee Manipur's COVID-19 Special Task Force has extended essential commodities to the residents of Horton Vaiphei Khul in Kangpokpi district today.

Receiving the aid for the very first since the imposition of lockdown, residents of the village (khul) expressed gratefulness to the UCM team for helping them out while they were facing a tough time.

The noble work of assisting needy people regardless of social and communal background is priceless, said the chief of the village while urging all to support such initiative of UCM.

To show solidarity in times of need is the responsibility of all and it will bring all communities closer and create a harmonious entity, remarked UCM president Sunil Karam, who was among the relief team.

The team have also appealed the residents to adhere to safety advisories issued by the Health Authorities during the distribution programme, said a statement of UCM.

Shree Shyam Mast Mandal reaches out
Reaching out to the section of people with no known source of income during the Nationwide lockdown, members of Shree Shyam Mast Mandal today distributed some bare necessities to some select families along RIMS road.

The necessities distributed included dal, rice, mustard oil, milk powder, flour etc.

Yesterday too, Shree Shyam Mast Mandal reached out to the worst affected families at Khongjom Sapam in Thoubal district and distributed some basic necessities.

The Shree Shyam Mast Mandal has been reaching out to the worst affected families in different parts of Manipur in the last few days and will carry on the samaritan work in the days to come too.

Edibles extended to migrant workers at Moreh
ADC Moreh, L Manikanta; ASP (Ops) Moreh, M Amit under the aegis of Tengnoupal DC, M Rajkumar extended 7 bags of rice and 2 bags of dals to the helpless migrant workers from Bihar who are stuck at Moreh due to lockdown.

Social worker hands out masks and other items at Thoubal Dist Hospital
Social Worker Kh Menjor in continuation of humanitarian works, has extended masks, water and chairs for OPD patients, doctors and staff of Thoubal District Hospital at Khangabok today.

While praising highly of the role of medical staff and other frontline workers fighting COVID-19, the social worker urged everyone to act responsibly and follow guidelines issued by WHO and other authorities to beat the spread of the COVID-19 .

AMTA aids
All Manipur Transman Association and Ya-All continued to help transgender people amid the lockdown.

As stigma about transgender identities prevail among people who have lesser knowledge about gender equality, these trangender people are seemed to have ignored by the masses amid the lockdown.

Several nupi manbis, which is a local term of transwomen, asserted they are finding it hard to cope with the prevailing situation as their business, particularly beauty salon, have been shut after the imposition of the lockdown.

Some transwomen who are staying in a rented house said that buying essential items and at the same time paying rent for a room as well as shop with limited resources available is very hard.

Trans people are also often ignored while distributing relief materials, they said, and lauded All Transman Association, Manipur (ATMA) for understanding their plight.

ATMA provided relief items to transgender people from Wangjing, Nambol, Lilong and Patsoi.

Ya-All (Yawol) also provided essentials to transmen and transwomen from different places.

UPA
United Peoples' Front has provided essential items to Kangchup Chiru Village Authority, Senapati for distribution to village locals.

Homes aided
Chief managing director of Socio Economic Empowerment Finance, Thongam Ibetombi Chanu has also extended edibles and sanitary items to orphanages, old age homes and other shelters across the State today.
