Public meeting on MGNREGA, resolutions adopted

A public meeting on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Samaram Gram Panchayat along with a discussion of how to improve Government Schools at Samaram village, was held at Samaram Mayai Leikai playground today.
The public meeting was organised by United Development Association, Samaram and Samaram Gram Panchayat former Pradhan, Kh Dijen, village elders namely Meipak Kh and N Ukil attended as the dignitaries.
The meeting deliberated on numerous schemes and projects introduced by the Central Government for rural people and altogether nine resolutions were adopted apart from deciding to pressure the State Government to transform the resolutions into action.
The meeting decided to urge the State Government to properly investigate the construction of irrigation work from Chanambam Biren's gate till Athokpam Dine's gate (around 2 km), which was taken up before the job cards were renewed and none had applied for the work officially.
It also resolved to look into the alleged forged signatures of the workers for the said work.
The third resolution demanded equal number of working days to all job card holders under MGNREGA and further urged the authorities concerned to inspect the developmental works taken up at the Gram Panchayat.
The meeting further resolved to demand proof in case anyone or any officials come for the contribution of money for construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
It further decided on a collaboration between the teachers and the locals to add new classes (class VIII) at Samaram Junior High School and to urge the Education department to provide the required teachers at the school.
Another resolution was passed mainly to urge the authorities and officials concerned to refrain from providing works to the job card holders before their bank accounts and job cards are corrected.
Lastly, the meeting unanimously decided to urge the MRS staff of Thoubal DC and members of the Gram Panchayat to upload the number of bank accounts for public convenience, reports our correspondent.
