Urging the Central Government to give the same emphasis it gives to the Framework Agreement signed with the NSCN (IM) to some key of the issues of the State, Shiv Sena Manipur Unit demanded the State and the Central Governments to deploy National Highway Protection Forces in the State at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Shiv Sena Manipur Unit office at Babupara, its president M Tombi conveyed wishes to the drivers and transporters of the State on the occasion of Drivers Day which is being observed in the State today and paid tributes, on behalf of the party, to the brave drivers of the State who have been killed in the line of duty.
Mentioning that Shiv Sena has been demanding deployment of National Highway Protection Forces in the State since a long time back, he demanded the BJP led State and Central Governments to deploy necessary security forces along the National Highways to protect drivers and transporters who regularly drive along these routes.
He expressed that the people of the State owe their lives to the brave drivers who are travelling day and night along the National Highways, bringing in essential commodities and others.
There are numerous unlawful elements along the National Highways and the Government should not turn a blind eye to these problems.
The Government should take up necessary steps to protect and safeguard these brave drivers, he added.
Urging the Government to stop regarding the people of Manipur as lower class citizens, he mentioned that the price of many commodities as well as essential items have shot up due to GST and the Government should look into the numerous illegal taxes being collected so as to ease the suffering of the people.
