79th Nupi Lan Memorial Day observed at Jiribam and Moreh

Jir/Tpl, December 12 2018: The 79th Nupi Lan Memorial Day organized by Nupilal Ningshing Numit Observation Committee was observed at Apunba Jiribam Meira Paibi (AJMP)Complex, Babupara, Jiribam today at 10.30 am.

The function was attended by Ksh Janaki Devi, Adhyaksha, Jiribam Jilla Parishad; M Mubi Singh, SP, Jiribam District Police; Houbam Thoibi Devi, President, Women Welfare Organisation Kangleipak (WWOK), Jiribam; Sagapam Sushila Devi, President, AJMP, Jiribam; Hurem Mema Devi, President, Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL), Jiribam; Naorem Nevarani Devi, President, Woman Association for Socio Economic Development (WASED), Jiribam; Louriam Anita Devi, Vice-president, Jiribam Woman Association of Kangleipak (JIMWAK), Jiribam; Th Sushtra Devi, President, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWVA), Jiribam presidium members.

79th Nupi Lan Memorial Day observed at Jiribam and Moreh

All the presidium members paid respect to the brave women who have sacrifice their life for the cause of Manipur at the beginning of the function.

The function began with Kh Memcha Devi singing the opeining song while S Sorojini Devi delivered the welcome address.

H Chandrabala Devi, Secretary, WWOK, Jiribam deliberated on the underlying meaning of observing the day.

Chief guest Ksh Janaki Devi, Adhyaksha, Jiribam Jilla Parishad said that the day was observed to show that Manipuri women are still following the path treaded by our brave mothers and appealed all to extend support in order to host the day on a larger scale from next year onwards.

Besides, Ch Aruna Devi, member, WWOK, Jiribam; Kh Ibema Devi, AJMP, Jiribam; and L Sorojini Devi, JIMPAL, Jiribam were honoured with honoured with modest gifts for securing the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in the above 40 Nupil Lan race held on December 10 while H Susila Devi, member, Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL), Jiribam; Th Thoibi Devi, member, Women Association For Socio Economic Development (WASED); and A Mimi Devi, member, WASED, Jiribam were also honoured with simple gifts for securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in U-40 Nupi Lan race.

Tengnoupal: As part of 79th Nupi Lan Memorial Day, a Nupi Lan race was held today at 8 am where many women including young and elders participated in the race.

The event was organized by Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup in association with Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Minority Women Development Society Moreh and Muslim Women Development Association.

Later, floral tributes and respect were paid to the brave women who have sacrificed their life for the cause of Manipur and were remembered today on the occasion.

The memorial function was attended by MCM, ACODOM, MMCM, Tamil Sangam and other organisations while Dr L Kaminikumar, HOD Manipuri Department Moreh College; Th Devan Sharma, President AMUCO; Joy Chingabam, Chairman HRDM; and Th Apabi, Gen Secy Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur attended the function as resource persons.

Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the women race and other events held in connection with the memorial day.
