Ukhrul village gets road

Ningthi village in interior Ukhrul district gets road connectivity till block headquarters and other neighbouring villages.
Ningthi village is located around 100 km away from the district headquarters.
The road till the block headquarters is constructed with funding by the Ministry of Rural Development through Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) .
Rs 3.7 crore was sanctioned for the construction of the road to Ningthi village from the district highway including fresh cutting, construction of drainage and culvert in 2010 .
Though with no proper road connectivity, Ningthi village area is said to have rich resources in horticulture, forest and mineral.
A fact finding team from Imphal led by Shyam Sunder, Addl Chief Engineer, State Quality Coordinator of Manipur State Rural Road Agency visited the construction yesterday.
Besides certain portions of the road need to be widened, construction of drainage and slab culverts is yet to begin.
Meanwhile, public of the area appealed the concerned authorities to facilitate release of pending bills for the speedy completion of the road before the onset of monsoon.
